It was 61 years ago that we first opened our doors to the public. We were committed to offering tasty, good quality food to a hungry public at a reasonable price.
Nothing has changed since those earliest times, other than the fact that we now deliver that same promise on a much larger scale.
Over the last 12 months we have taken significant steps to grow our business and give Dicksons customers the opportunity to buy Dicksons products beyond our retail outlets.
An important year and a sign of things to come in the future
Our 60th year was one of celebration. It was a chance for us to celebrate our rich heritage and the incredible hard work and talent that have always stood us in good stead. But it also signalled our intention to move the business forward and build on our success.
In the last 12 months we have made good on our promise by growing the turnover of the business by 8%, opening new stores in Cramlington, Pelaw and Whitley Bay in the process.
With a total of 24 stores and more than 240 employees, we have continued to invest in people and infrastructure in the region at a time when many are still feeling the pinch of austerity.
Managing Director, Michael Dickson explains:
“Last year marked the beginning of a long awaited recovery for the business and we saw great growth across both wholesale and our retail estate. Despite a challenging picture on the high street, we invested £500,000 in our retail estate, opening three new shops and refurbishing existing premises to bring them in line with the current look and feel of the brand.
“We have exciting plans in place to continue our retail expansion over the next 12 months, not only entering into new geographical territories but introducing an entirely new retail concept.”
In our wholesale division we are now delighted to supply a number of the nation’s biggest supermarket chains, including Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
