Two of our much-loved and longest serving employees have finally hung up their aprons.

It is with great regret and the fondest of memories that we wave goodbye to two of our longest serving members of staff, Moira Jones and Dorothy Waterstreet, as they retire from their duties with us this month.

Moira and Dorothy have been part of the family here at Dicksons since the 1980’s and have been serving the North East for a combined total of 58 years.

Our managing director, Michael Dickson, said: “Moira’s true professionalism has made her an iconic presence in our business over 32 years…Moira has skilfully managed a number of retail sites for us during her long service and both staff and customers will miss her presence in our stores.

“Dorothy’s friendly, efficiency manner as both a supervisor and a manager during her 26-year career means she will be a huge loss to our business, but also to her regular customers whom I’m sure will miss her friendly face in Dicksons shops.”

Both Moira and Dorothy are examples of the loyalty and dedication shown by many of our staff who give us decades of loyal service. Both women worked in various shops owned by Dicksons throughout their working career and their faces will be recognisable to many of our customers in the region.

Moira and Dorothy were presented with bouquets during a shift at the store in Prince Edward Road, South Shields. Of course, it is with sadness that we see them go off into retirement but we truly hope that they enjoy their well-deserved rest and we wish them a long and happy retirement.
